It's hot! It's supposed to be the middle of winter and it's hot! It's nearly 80 degrees, I think.

Made a beef rendang for dinner in the crockpot so that's that done. Pancake the mouse died so we had a sad funeral but at least now I can separate the other two if necessary. Pancake was an old mouse so it's no great drama, even for Max.

Went to Bribie with Gayle yesterday to brainstorm with L. All Gayle's mob came as well and they took the boys to the movies. Finding Nemo again for Max who loved it. Talked things through with L again and again and it became very clear that the school is no longer tenable. Gayle was pushing early high school but L's not ready which I can totally appreciate. It looks like she's going to pull him at the end of term and homeschool. Far from ideal for both of them but he's not going to survive being bullied by students and teachers much longer.

Then we went and had fish and chips. F and M had an incident which I'm a bit sus of but I'll watch closer next time. L swears that F did nothing but she also likes to believe he is incapable of lying. It was no big deal and if F did do something to M, well, god knows he's under such stress that acting out to someone else what is being done to you on a daily basis is understandable.

Gayle drove me all the way home which was a relief as I wasn't keen on the trains the night of RiverFire. Skipped dinner as ate so much at lunch time. Read paper, was annoyed by this article in the SMH

http://www.smh.com.au/text/articles/2003/08/29/1062050664727.htm

especially as the original research article at the BMJ doesn't say what the article claims.

I think I've decided to go to my parents for dinner for my 40th. Yes, I know how wild and riotous and all that. They were willing to have a party for me but when I look at my friends and all their weird children with a cold steely gaze, I'm not keen. My father and F in the same room FE is a scary thought. I might have a picnic in the park but I probably can't be bothered. I won't have a family thing because my sister likes to act out on my birthday and after what was said and done at my 38th birthday BBQ, I'm not giving her the chance. She had a huge party at a restaurant for her 40th last year but I simply cannot be bothered. Plus I don't have that many friends. I couldn't round up 100 or so people. My aunt's turning 60 around the time I turn 40 so I might piggyback on that and get away from my own party issue. My sister keeps asking what I am doing and geez, the temptation to tell her the truth is strong.

Wednesday went OK. Kind of a blur though. K was home and we did stuff. Obviously interesting stuff as I cannot remember it. Max wrote a letter of complaint to the popcorn company who list soy as an ingredient on the inner packet but not the outer. Spelled impeccably and grammatically correct. Interesting. Maybe he can begin a career as Disgruntled of S***** C****?

Thursday -- Meagan came at 9am. She's getting married and seems very happy about it. She and M headed off for 6 hours, leaving me and G home alone. I think he had illusions of intimacy but I had to complete the disability Q grant application. Maude, it was depressing. One needs to present the most desperate case possible as there's a 6% chance of getting the $10 000 recurring funding. Went to the LoneStar Steakhouse and had lunch -- I really get pissed off when wait staff give me a hard time for giving them a coupon at the end. If it affects how they do the bill then bloody ask for it at the beginning. Instead of being rude to the other wait staff at high volume. Had a nice lunch of steak sandwich with waaaaaay too many fries and Ged had a caesar salad, woefully lacking in anchovy. They gave me the coupon back at the end so we might go back.

Then into the city and picked up the letter from the paed for our grant application. It was excellent, made us sound on the verge of separation due to the desperation of our lives. I especially liked the way he stressed that while our kids have the same diagnosis, their needs are very different.

Today was just bleh. Accomplished very little. I think I'm burned out with doing the application. It takes a lot of energy to think about the disabilities, the impact on our lives and what I would like to do about it. V depressing. Went for a walk, bought a Furby for K and an Odie to go with his Garfields but he rejected the Odie with odium. Took M to my parents, they gave me lemons and freerange eggs from their friends out in the country, left M there, and brought K home.

G did another display of inability to cope in a drive through. He gets really agitated and worked up at the McDonalds drive through. I mean, it takes the time it takes right? It doesn't matter that the person in front of you is a moron, you can hardly ram them out of the way.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Gayle and heading out to Bribie with M. Her daughter is going to take M and F to the movies and we are going to open a can of whoopass and figure out WTF L can do about the school. She was refused acceleration and moving F to another classroom. She's expected to deal with the insane teachers for another solid year. There's so many grounds on which that is totally unacceptable. It beats me why a principal would want to keep a parent and teachers in daily contact when they have demonstrated repeatedly they cannot work together :(

I especially liked the bit where the principal said that this was the only classroom that could prepare F for high school. What does that say about the other grade 7 classes?

4.30 am today. What a nice change from seeing 5.30am on the clock! K slept the last two nights through in his own bed. I woke up about 3am with the neighbours being noisy and panicked he had let himself out the front door and wandered off into the night. I'm adding a security door to the list of stuff for the grant we're applying for.

G worked today and yesterday. A small Catholic school yesterday afternoon and one of the big private schools today. I was a bit unnerved when we realised he had never quoted on a cost and they were asking for an invoice and we had no idea what to charge. They happily paid up $450 so that was OK but geez, I'm thinking I will print him out a checklist of things to check for bookings. If they'd not been happy we could have been screwed. Tentative booking for early Sept through the booking agency we had given up hope on.

M and I did some schoolwork today. He was resisting writing one sentence as he couldn't think what to write. After I pointed out I would accept anything including the sentences which were flowing freely from his gob, he lay on the sofa and whinged and then found a piece of paper and wrote 'I give up'. He said he was going to practise handwriting as when he is a marine biologist a laptop would be very inconvenient.

We walked up to Woolworths via the pet shop for some sea horse adoration and the op shop. Bought an X files book for him -- I only had a $50 note and I said to the woman, I'd call in on the way back and this woman whose baby I had been admiring paid the 50c for us. Wasn't that sweet? M said he would save the book until he was older but I said I was OK with him reading it now. The reading level to be polite is less than adult and I didn't spot any rude bits on my quick skim through.

We bought the Two Towers and came home and ate popcorn and watched 2 hours of it. Eh, it's gruelling. I cried when the elves arrived at Helm's Deep. Damn, I know it's wrong and I would have loved to have seen the Huorns but it's so sad.

K had a day at childcare apparently. He chucked a tantrum over something minor and later he was eating his morning tea in the room with Fei and Ma and apropos of nothing he said 'You tell them, Omama, you just tell them.' So apparently he thinks she's on his side ;)

Remind me never to engage in discussion of childbirth or breastfeeding on public message boards. Yeeesh, I had NO freaking idea that inducing lactation at 4 months post partum was so medically dangerous for a woman. Of course, nobody can actually give me any details of what medically is so risky but by Christ she needs to talk to her GP about it. I would think that the mechanism would be quite simple and lactation wouldn't begin if someone's health was so impaired but what do I know? I'm a nutjob who wouldn't wean if I had surgery. When did lactation become this big fat hairy medical issue?

Finished reading the Lymond saga. It's the first time I read the whole series right through since I first read it 16 years ago. It's a fine fine series and stood up to the rereading. Started _The Fort at River's Bend_ by Jack Whyte but I must be hallucinating that I read _The Saxon Shore_ last month because it's not making enough sense. ::sigh::. I'll give _Seabiscuit_ a try instead but I'm dubious about it.

Tired, tired, tired. I have no freaking idea why I am waking regularly at 5am but I'd be pleased if it could just stop now. Of course this morning it was enhanced by K waking with me and announcing joyfully, 'Dawn!' No, it wasn't a Hallmark moment at all.

Friday went OK. Went over to uni after half an hour at childcare where K was bound and determined not to put on sunscreen but he did go to the loo which he had been bound and determined he wasn't going to do at home. Dear wee Chelsea said to me with a glint in her eye, 'that's K. There's something wrong with him.' Thanks so much for sharing, darling.

Went OK at the uni. They had wheeled in various ancients and the plan was for kids to pair up with them and do activities. K made a kite, did a collage and a painting. Found an elevator and it took all my skill to get him away from it. But at least I was able to do so. Ma, K and me had our photo taken for the local paper. Gak. It's going to be beautiful I am sure. You could see the photographer regretting his choice of subject. Local politician type wafted in, told me how fantastic my mother is, and when Ma said we'd only been in L---n for 3 years and how we had 2 autistic kids, she said, 'Well they couldn't have chosen a better family to be born into!'

WTF does one say to that?

Lunch was hilarious. The caterers apparently expected the children to queue for food and were not happy that Fei made us queue jump -- the ancients were taking forever to load their plates. Then we got in trouble for taking chicken for the children. Then Ma arrived and was annoyed that we had taken food from childcare for K as she had made a big point when the committee had been organising catering that supplying gluten free food was simply equity in action. So I queued and loaded a plate with GF food and brought it home and froze it.

The uni playgroup were bashing our kids up and our kids were beautifully behaved.

Saturday was quiet. Ma and Pa came over and Pa and G went off and got the dishwasher. Ma was having this day where there were things to do but not much and Pa was having this frantically busy day and they were not happy with each other.

G installed the dishwasher and proceeded to find all these things wrong with it. I may need to kill him and soon. I freaking told him that he was to examine the dishwasher in detail and if he didn't like it, we would buy a different model. Soooooo I am not prepared to listen to the manifold faults of a perfectly ordinary dishwasher for the next decade. Yes, I too was taken aback when it fell over but all was explained. When they said to anchor it to the wall, that was not an optional extra.

MIL rang, unfortunately when G was out. It looks like she is no longer being sued for assaulting patrons at the theatre she used to work at. Jolly good then. Talked about herself at length and then couldn't get off the phone fast enough when I said M's school placement had fallen through.

Today L and F came over and we went to the Science Week thingy. M liked the Goliath stick insects and F wasn't so keen. Sat through tedious solar system show and went to interesting physics show. Bought teacher science kit for $20 and felt guilty as I've probably got the experiments around the bookcases but can't be arsed to sort it out. We might do a science competition if I can be arsed to do so. Came back here and had lunch. M and F had a wonderful time which was great as F has had such a horrible time socially lately at school.

Braved the supermarket after that. Gah. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Found that Joy of Soup was listed in the world's best 111 blogs in Australian NetGuide which was nice. Have awful feeling that next week's woman's mags are going to be full of Pauline Hanson, political martyr which may cause me to hurl on the spot. I think she deserved a prison sentence -- if I stole $500 000 I'd be behind bars, I'm sure but I have to say that I think community service in a refugee service or in an Aboriginal community would have been poetic justice. If she lived.

Respite today. Went to Sushi Train and ate sushi (heh). Then went to a factory outlet and bought two new bras. Resplendent pink unfortunately but they were comfortable. Oh to be flat chested! There were brand name bras in small sizes for $5 each. I paid about $29 ea which was about half price.

Then onto the dishwasher saga. I'm happy with a bottom of the line model because we just use it for crockery and china. G has an obsession with being able to shut the dishwasher without it running. I Do Not Care about this issue. We're uncertain whether the model I chose and bullied the salesperson into matching the price of has this feature. I told him if he wanted to choose a dearer model to go forth and do so but don't bang on about it. It's lo these 6 hours later and he's still worrying at the issue.

So we applied for the no deposit, no repayments for a year, no interest dealio. I was completely appalled that we were promptly given a line of credit for three and a half thousand freaking dollars! With an interest rate of 30% if we default! I was completely honest about our income which is not pretty but apparently living in the same house and having completely clean credit counts for more. I think it's immoral to apply for a loan of $600 and be given $3500. I know there are times in my past where I would have gone out and spent that and given no thought to tomorrow.

I'm now eyeing up a chest freezer ;).

Had an important realisation today with M. I've been insisting he write 2 sentences a day. He's choosing to write about space so theoretically he is reading a few paragraphs then writing about them. Went to pieces today because he cannot hold the info in his head, think of a sentence and spell. I dictated a sentence to him and he did fine. I'm thinking I'll dig out my old tape recorder and get him to dictate to himself and then key it in. Gah, this is so complicated.

Going to Griffith uni tomorrow for some activities with childcare. Will be interesting to see how K goes. Ma's driving us while the rest go in maxi taxis. L's maybe coming over to take M and F to the science week fair in the afternoon. We'll take M again later in the weekend in any case.

Migraine today. First one for a long time -- I started getting fewer when I started eating low carb.

Mice all back in original cages as Scabs attacked Pancake viciously so I put Bully back with Scabs. They're fighting but I have no idea what to do now. Asked at the pet shop and they suggested mouse bait. Real helpful.

K's nearly finished the grade one maths book. At times I despair with him because I'm comparing him to M at the same age and, well, there's a huge difference in academic achievement. Had a bit of a reality check yesterday though on a homeschool mailing list where people were saying they were beginning to teach their 5 yo's the alphabet and counting to 100. Eeeeeeep. Introducing the alphabet at 4 letters a week? Bit of a reality check really. We're working with Reading Reflex now and it's apparent he can do a lot more than he's willing to show. My goal is to have him reading fluently by February but we'll see.

Finally got his referral to the gastro guy -- Sept 23. Gah. It's all taking soooooo long.

I got the laundry done (I know why I started this blog, it's so I could demonstrate my fabulous interesting life), tidied the house including part of the pantry. Ever fascinating what lurks within the kitchen cupboards.

Walked up to Endo's this afternoon and scored. 2 Calvin and Hobbes (one of the big arse one which I cannot afford new), 2 Xfiles books and a Star Trek video all for $10. M was ecstatic.

Went to the PO and picked up a box from a friend -- 40 CDroms all in perfect condition! K is overwhelmed at the choice before him. Lots of good maths and spelling ones which M is less than thrilled to see in his life.

G and I are bickering. He's being vague. I'm sure he's doing it to bug me.

The two boy mice are trying to kill each other and Scab is losing. We built another level in there to give them more room but they're still going for it. I may put them in with Pancake and see what transpires. And chant with me -- if I send you out to buy two girl mice, don't come home with males because males fight. OK, I couldn't stand it any longer. I put Bully by himself and Scabs and Pancake together. Bully's panicstricken.
It's a beautiful day after a weekend of rain which we desperately needed. I've got washing out the wazoo and need to go and start a load now so that I can keep going all day with the fun of laundry. The house is totally trashed.

It's going to be a quiet week. G's got a hearing test this morning and I'm going to childcare on Friday to help take the kids over to a program at the uni. Gotta ring paed and chase referral and discuss meds. I'm beginning to be convinced that clonidine is useless as a sleeping pill for K. Took him up to 5 mg of dex yesterday and he was anxious. Of course it would have to be a day where G was working so I had a fun time. Not.

The dishwasher died on Saturday morning. ::sigh::. I'm debating whether to buy a secondhand one or a new one. We can get a basic one for $600 and I think I'm OK with that. Royalties are due this month and I should get a reasonable backpayment when we do the tax and family allowance gets adjusted.

Better go and attack the house after a shower. ::sigh::

Meagan cancelled for respite -- Trey said she was at the doctors but would come after. I declined, she can keep her bugs to herself. We went over to Ma's and attempted to download updates from Microsoft, a firewall and AV. Yeesh. I am so glad I don't have dialup! After 2 hours I bailed as the connection kept dropping out and nothing was dl/ing fast enough. They're running Windows ME so should be OK. I'll try again next week when hopefully things are more stable.

We watched the video she's on talking about multiculturalism and inclusion in childcare. K is on the video too and was very cute.

A doctor friend sent me some links about kids and bowel problems. They were excellent -- well, I had limited tolerance for searching as some of the search terms turned up stuff I don't wanna know about. I'm less certain about Hauschsprung's disease but it's still a possibility. 30% mortality rate so I definitely want it ruled out ASAP. She's sending me about 30 CD-Roms for K ::happy dance::.

The clonidine isn't working out particularly well. First night, K woke once, second night, he woke about 2 times and last night was our worst night in months. Gah. Having been strong armed into trialling the meds by Ma and the paed, I was getting excited by the concept of a decent night's sleep! I'll give it another few nights before giving up.

G saw the doctor today about his headaches. It looks like they are tension headaches. Peter strongly recommended exercise -- if G is putting his neck out rolling over in bed, then he's unfit in the extreme. G said he'd do Tai chi but won't consider a gym. I can relate to that.

M finished reading the Star Trek Encyclopaedia and with any luck will change the record and talk about something else. My beloved father taped him 12 freaking hours of ST and I cannot begin to express my delight. I'm trying to get M to read the Philip Pullman trilogy, _The Subtle Knife_. Once he finishes Daniel Pinkwater, it might become our homeschooling reading book. Must look for materials on it.

The hideous nasty beastly lantana bugs that ate my beautiful geisha girl are now on the hideously expensive portwine jacaranda and the African tulip tree. Don't appear to be sucking the sap but they are shedding the black mould onto leaves and the trees are unwell. Pissed off in the extreme that I had this feeling that it was a dumb idea to dump the geisha girl cuttings under those trees but I thought the lantana bug was so species specific it should be OK. Wrong. G started cutting them up and putting them in the wheelie bin I was going to use for compost.

Must water garden tomorrow as everything is desperately dry. The horseradish is dying. The Australian raspberries have set fruit so it will be interesting to see what they taste like. The native mulberry flowered but I don't think it's got fruit on it. I've got to give some thought to where I will plant the banksias. They were so small when I got them but they're now at good size to transplant. I'd like to get rid of all the lawn in the side garden and just have trees and shrubs but suspect some forward planning would be good instead of random planting.

The Ekka went well apart from a meltdown because they'd changed the rules for the rides and you have to be 130 cm to ride alone and he's only 120 cm. To add insult to injury, some of them were rides he rode 2 years ago. ::sigh:: I felt for him but not enough to go on the damned rides. My neck's out and I'm scared of those rides.

Today's sucked really. Ged had a major serious headache thing going on and he got a bit pissy when I said Go Away, I can deal but not if you are hanging around being needy and sick. He's got to do something about these headaches, it's getting insane. The kids were OKish. Kas and I made chocolate truffles, we did school work, they trashed the house. Hot day today too.

I'm wrestling a bit with uncomfortable emotions about disability and what it all means in the long run and just precisely what is going on. I spend a lot of time being very positive and acknowledging the things that are right with M and K and when I have to focus on just how much stress is going on and just how difficult it all is, it's hard to wrap my head around. I was feeling very depressed on the train going to the Ekka -- just the whole concept that taking a 10 yo by myself was a challenge was depressing. But when we got there, I don't know if it was the day we chose or what but there were so many people with intellectual handicaps and in wheelchairs at the Ekka with their respite workers and it was a bit of a contrast. But then I wonder if M's disabilities FE were more visible whether in some ways it would be easier? I feel like I've been under stress for so long now that I'm losing sight of shore.

Hmmm, I don't know where I'm heading with this. I know in my head I had deep and profound thoughts that made sense but it's not translating to paper.

Monday, August 11, 2003

All that drama and angst about the referral for Kas is at an end. Apparently after I last spoke with Michael I had convinced him that things were Not Right and he had made the referral. Gah. 3 weeks of worrying and a hideous expensive visit to another paed for a second opinion all for nothing. Of course now the big question is Where Is The Damned Referral?

Confessed that I had begun trialling K on dex and he was totally cool with it. We discussed how K was doing and he agrees with me that increased oppositional behaviour is a Good Thing for Kas as he's engaged more with us when he does it. He pointed out that Kas's play was more goal oriented than he'd previously seen. Prescribed a sleeping pill which I've reluctantly agreed to trial. I guess I'm so used to K not sleeping that it's hard for me to wrap my head around there being another way.

He's happy to write me a letter supporting our grant application. He thinks these particular grants are being given to families at risk of disintegration. As my mother said, most weeks we're not far off it. I'll restructure the application reflecting the extreme stress we're under. ::snort::. It would be seriously cool to get $10 000 worth of family support a year to do stuff and get respite care. It's actually bloody depressing doing the application as it's 99.9% true with very little gilding. Michael commented that out of the families he sees, ours would be one of the ones with the most stress. He also told my mother that I am doing a great job and really working for my boys.

On the way home, my mother nearly wiped us out changing lanes. Her driving is scary. She managed to take us into the city instead of heading home. Still it beats the loooooong drive up the Gateway to the airport instead of going to New Farm. I'm beginning to fully appreciate where I got my sense of direction from.

Got home to discover that I was given bad information and Dr Who is not rerunning on the ABC starting tonight. In fact it looks like there will be a few episodes running from Sept 15 or so. M was seriously pissy with me. Ghod help me I'm taking him to the Ekka tomorrow. I said I'd buy him one showbag and two rides and anything else comes out of his savings.

http//:www.ekka.com.au

We're leaving G at home because he's no fun at the Ekka and whines a lot. He's happy because he finally got an invite to the Writers Festival. Cunningly there is no mention of payment which leads me to believe there will be none forthcoming but we'll just conclude that the exposure will make it OK. Nothing about getting sponsors either so that further confirms they won't be paying him. Gee, shall we all start sending energy now that he manages to go on the right day?

Sunday, August 10, 2003

this isn't showing up? I'll try publishing again.

Yeesh. All that organisation and nervous energy and he got the date wrong. He's presenting at the conference *next* Sunday. At least it gives me time to make him buy new trousers which don't look like shit.

But that's the fifth booking in a row he's stuffed up the dates for. What is going on with him?

Not much else going on. K's doing's well and I'm thinking the meds are a Good Thing after all. Even though he's more oppositional, he's also more present and conversational.

I need to start to work on the family services grant. I'd be happy to get the funding to do our fences and I think I'm likely to get to that but I'm less confident about the ongoing funding. If we got the $10 000 a year funding with a family worker, it would make such a difference. Ma's coming over tomorrow to work on it with me.

Must make list for Michael -- we need a letter for the school saying K is on the spectrum, a referral for evaluation of his bowel issues, a letter supporting the need for more services for the family. Ummmmm, there were other things I'm sure.

Saturday, August 09, 2003

Took K to library and he behaved well. There were a couple of points at which you could see he wanted to meltdown but held it together OK. Didn't run away at all. Big improvement.

Picked M up and went to RSPCA open day. Sucked. They were doing tours but an hour apart and he didn't want to wait an hour. Very cute cats who I wanted to take home. Truly bizarre family came in and visited with their ex-cat. If they freaking loved dear wee Persia (nondescript shorthaired tabby) so much, why was Persia in kitty jail?

Came home. Read paper. Felt great disgust and dislike for John Howard. How can he say he supports the death penalty for Amrozi when Australia doesn't have a death penalty? Am now worried we will see an attempt to re-introduce death penalty here.

G spent day farting around getting ready for conference tomorrow. Hope he gets some work from it because I'm not all that happy about spending weekend with him working.

K is to be ascertained at level 6. I've got mixed feelings about this. It's the highest level of ascertainment short of a special school and he doesn't qualify for a special school (and I wouldn't agree to that placement in any case). Vanessa said that his bowel issues were the major reason she'd push for level 6 but it's still hard to hear that she would think he was so impaired. He was having a good day as well. Bloody typical that he would be in a good mood the day we could have done with him being diabolical.

Pharmacist rang to say the meds were ready and that it was $40. ::choke splutter:: He agreed to charge me $30 after I pointed out that I had asked them to ring and tell me how much the meds would be and that I could get them for $20 from Sydney.
V. pissy mood. Discovered awful child has pulled the tiny stars and beads off in 3 places off my new Indian voile curtain. Awful child denies doing it, claims it was probably a huntsman spider. Yes, M, I am so sure a spider could do that. Grrrrrrrr. Knew this was a risk when bought tizzy curtains, wish I'd bought the ones with gold stars painted on.

K's ascertainment starts today. I'm getting sick of being told they will only do it if I am totally committed to that one particular school. I have no idea if I am or not as so far I've not managed to see the unit. In any case, it's his legal right to an ascertainment and it's usable for whatever school he eventually attends and it's not being done with the school's budget as far as I can tell. He needs a level 5 to even get a place in the unit but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a level 6. The person doing the ascertainment is not going to like Fei's IEP for K as it involves getting him to comply and co-operate which is not hugely fashionable with ASD in Q schools. Anything else I can worry about, I wonder?

It's raining which is such a relief. Not enough rain but at least it's some relief for my poor garden which looks like shite. Boring day ahead doing yet more organisation.

It was the spark plugs. Fun way to spend $50 unexpectedly.

Picked up the compounding authority from Michael and took it to the pharmacist. Very very stupid people who have only just started doing this and they got snaky because I had a bottle of pills instead of a script. Wanted to see the script before compounding. Well, excuse me, but if I've got an authority from my paed then why did they need a script as well? And buggered if I am faxing them a copy of the script. They also got nasty because I hadn't rung and told them I was coming. May work out less wear and tear on nerves if simply post authority to Sydney and pay insane shipping charge.

Then we went to Balaclava St and bought rice flour and potato starch and maple syrup and pane dure and salami. Then to horrible Garden City shopping mall and had lunch. OK Indian food. Came home, Meagan was in a bit of a mood. I guess 3 hours of Lost in Space complete with commentary will do that to one.

Talked with Fei about K and it's getting complicated. She wants him off meds as his compliance is dropping. But she's working on compliance with him so it is to be expected his level will drop. Told me he needs more sleep. She's welcome to come and try to make him sleep any night. Then talked to Ma who says he's having a fantastic day after a brief rocky start. He did a fantastic collage after they convinced him he really was going to do the same thing as everyone else and not just wander the room vaguely. I'll give it a few more days and then make a decision I suppose.

Am excavating this side room and found heaps of stuff I really should be using with Max. Must sort through and discard books I never use so have room on bookcase for stuff I do use.

Oh terrific. Now the car is packing a sad again. Ghod, I hate this car so much. Truly hope it is just the spark plugs because I don't fancy big expensive repair jobs at this point in time. Also hope it is fixed by the time Meagan comes so that I actually get out the door and away from the house. Must remember G always panics over trivia and usually it's fixable without major money and mechanic involvement.
Have decided it's not the meds -- K is vile even before taking them, yelling and screaming and carrying on like he is King of the Household. Listening to him instruct G on how to make pancakes is giving me a headache.

Ghod grant me patience. G is now 'calling my attention to the fact the potato starch jar is empty' I'm apparently snarky because I drew his attention to the fact that he needs to look in the cupboard to see if there is another bag of the stuff. I'm sure there was an underlying subtext of looky I emptied the jar and told you so now you can fill the jar!

Geez, now he's getting out every bag in the cupboard and reading the name of the flour and complaining that the cupboard is greasy. All righty then.

It's respite day but it looks like we'll spend the time running around town chasing M's meds. There's apparently a chemist in Wickham Terrace who compounds dex but I don't know what the timeframe is. Better than sending it to Sydney at great expense in any case.

Better stop in at the Indian shop and buy potato starch and rice flour as apparently there is no potato starch in the store cupboard. Must resist bread from Italian deli next to Indian shop.

The Battle of the House continues. M's and K's rooms are tidy. My room will be with about 20 minutes of input. The computer side room is now a disaster area with piles of books everywhere. I wanna win lotto so I can have an enormous room for books and magazines. G's room is remarkably messy. We seem to have had an infestation of spiders and there are webs everywhere I must deal to.

Well, I seem to have fixed my little renaming problem. That'll learn me to play with code.

Back to the tidying ::sigh::. Then a hearty round of WTF's for dinner. Boy, I could get used to this sharing the minutiae of my day.

G took M for his bloodtest and G managed not to faint. M insisted on telling us in detail why butterfly syringes are better -- something to do with different pressures.

No mail from any publishers as yet. I'm thinking this is a Good Thing esp as K Books sent out a huge round of rejections recently so hopefully it means those books we sent are under close scrutiny. Ghod knows we could do with some income after the kids's computer frying.

Gah. First screaming fit from M because he can't find the keys to the padlock to his money box. Well the keys to K's money box really, because M carefully locked his own set of keys inside the box months ago. He swears that K's keys were on the dressingtable. Ummmm, no. Now he's picking th elock. This is gonna be fun.
Tidied out spice cupboard. Why 4 jars of turmeric? Why did I buy lemon myrtle at great expense when have whacking great bush in garden?

By ghod when I finish M's room, he will be keeping it tidy. Ma wanted to know why I was doing it but geez, there's no way he could have dealt with it. I'm struggling to make sense of it all. Really need to figure out what storage he needs that would work for him so he can keep it tidy.

Actually really need to develop this theory with regards to entire fecking house. Am sure if had method, would become person who files nail polish by colour. May even become person who owns nail polish.
So today the grand plan is to finish mucking out M's room, finish organising K's room from last week and then begin on the kitchen cupboards. Oh much fun will be had I'm so sure. It's going to be a challenge to find places for all the books I took out of M's room as he's too old for them now. Must seriously consider pruning books when the kids aren't looking.

K's behaviour at childcare this morning so far is apparently vile. Is it the meds or is it that G dropped him and ran? He's struggling a lot more with transitions than he was before beginning meds so how much longer to persevere? It looked from his notebook yesterday that he had played with people a lot more. ::sigh::

M's very settled on the efexxor so that's one experiment which has worked out well.

Wheeeeeeee. Just playing here.
